Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has threatened to mercilessly beat Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho to a boxing match for allegedly tarnishing his reputation.

According to the outspoken MP, Anyidoho had been peddling false against that he [Agyapong] was involved in drugs and even went as far as trying to implicate him in the Limping Man cocaine case.

It will be recalled that a man, Christian Sheriff Asem Darkey aka Limping Man was arrested in February 2012 over some 77 parcels of cocaine on board the ship, MV Benjamin which got missing. Limping Man was, in 2014, sentenced to 22 years in jail over the matter. Recounting what happened, Mr Agyapong said, Mr Anyidoho, then Head of Communications at the Flagstaff House under the Late Professor J.E.A. Mills, tred to use the suspect and even the police to implicate him.

But “the guy [Asem Darkey] involved said he does not know me and the police declined to drag me in the matter”, he claimed. For this, he swore never to forgive the Deputy NDC General Secretary and threw a challenge to him to settle their score in a boxing ring so he can punch him in the stomach ceaselessly until he soils himself with his own faeces.

“I swear, Koku Anyidoho, I’ll take care of him. I won’t go to the police or court. I’ll take care of him very well. I dare him, if he claims he is a man, a ring should be provided for the two of us. We’ll fight till one of us dies,” he said.

Mr Agyapong's outburst was in reaction a recent statement by Mr Anyidoho that the petition seeking the removal of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei is being orchestrated by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. “Akufo-Addo and Bawumia passed bad comments about the EC boss and so the impeachment approach started from them; this is very political coming from the top.

They want to manipulate the system and that is why they want EC officials out in order to massage the DCE elections in 2019 and the main elections in 2020. Let them attempt and we are watching them. “Nana Akufo-Addo is interested in getting rid of Charlotte Osei, and in opposition they did not hide their dislike for the EC boss.

They are not being fair to the EC Chair. NPP made it manifestly clear that they will get rid of Charlotte Osei and this action shows clearly that they are behind her impeachment,” Mr Anyidoho is reported to have said in an interview on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show following the hearing of the petition against Mrs Osei by a panel constituted by the Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo.

But the Assin Central MP, who was speaking on his Accra-based Oman FM, would not take Mr Anyidoho's views on the matter and charge at him.
