A member of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Council of Elders, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour has said he will personally 'kneel' before Nii Noi Nortey and “beg” him to rescind his decision to contest the Klottey Korley constituency seat as an independent candidate.

The NPP member explained that – the party “Need Nii Noi just as Nii Noi needs the party. He (Nii Noi) must have the interest of his NPP constituency members at heart and join the part again to win the 2016 elections.”

Nii Noi Nortey has declared he will contest the November 7 elections as an independent candidate - his contender, Philip Addison emerged winner after a re-run of the primary, beating him by a slim margin.

This was after Nii Noi had won in the previous contest. His unhappy supporters impressed on him to contest as an independent candidate.

But Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' says he will personally visit the beleaguered former NPP MP aspirant - now solo candidate to beg him join the party again.

“I will talk to him (Nii Noi). I know for the respect he has for me, our discussion will be fruitful. I will bring him back to the party. He is full blood NPP member and we cannot let him go. He is a young man with a lot of energy to help the party,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
