The newly sworn-in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his readiness to protect the national purse and make corruption unattractive in his government.
Speaking during his inauguration ceremony at the Independence Square in Accra, he assured that he will not allow any citizen or his appointees dissipate the national purse.
President Nana Addo indicated that he will not let Ghanaians down for the confidence reposed in him.
"We must restore integrity in public life, State coffers are not spoils for parties that win elections but resources for the country’s social and economic development. I shall protect the public purse by insisting on value for money in all transactions. Public service is just service and not an avenue for making money. Money is to be made in the private sector and not the public sector," he said.
According to him, the country can create wealth if it has educated and skilled population.
He expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for voting massively for him.
"I am extremely humbled by the mandate given me and my New Patriotic Party (NPP). I am determined to do all in my power to accomplish the task of the mandate and justify the confidence."
