I will publish GYEEDA Report on Friday if… - Anthony Karbo

The immediate past National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abayefa Karbo, has threatened to publish the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) Report on Friday if the president fails to do so.

He noted that since the committee submitted the report, President John Mahama has not shown any interest in publishing it or even working with it, adding that the president’s silence is deafening.

The report recommended the abrogation of contracts between government on one hand and Zoomlion, RLG Communications and Goodwill International Group on the other hand, and it also referred a number of GYEEDA officials to the Attorney-General for prosecution.

Government has since the report was submitted to it, not said a word about the report and critics have said that raises suspicions of government’s intentions to protect the suspects named in the report.

Speaking Tuesday on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’, Karbo said he will take it upon himself to let Ghanaians know the full details of the report if the president delays any further than Friday, August 2, 2013.

“I will publish it on the various websites and social media networks for the public to know what is in the report,” he said.

He is also challenging the president to deal with the people cited in alleged corruption and misappropriation of state funds in the report.

Karbo, however, believes the GYEEDA program is a laudable one, which must to re-engineered and implemented properly, to continue to provide jobs with decent wages for the youth involved.

Meanwhile, Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of NDC, Solomon Nkansah strongly debunked Karbo’s claims that government is shielding the report from the general public, adding that people should relax for the president to study the report before making its contents known to the public.

Solomon Nkansah said the president even deserves to be applauded for setting up a committee to investigate issues at GYEEDA, adding that people should not rush to know the content of the report, but rather hold on for the president to review the committee's report.

Meanwhile, the president has just appointed another committee, headed by Senior Presidential Advisor, Paul Victor Obeng, to study the report and recommend the appropriate actions to the president.
