The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Asante Akim North constituency of the Ashanti Region Lawyer Andy Appiah Kubi, has promised to decline parliament if the party’s flagbearer fails to garner over 30,000 votes at the close of polls next month from the area.

He is optimistic that Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo will convincingly sweep a little over 30,000 votes as the presidential candidate whilst he as the parliamentary candidate will make up to 50,000 votes.

The private legal practitioner believes his performance will supersede that of the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, who made a little over 14,000 at the last elections.

“Kwame mark my words, I will decline parliament if Nana Addo does not win up to 30,000 votes in the Asante Akim North constituency. I will also get up to 50,000 votes as the MP and there is no doubt about that”, he bragged on Abusua Nkomo hosted by Kwame Adinkra.

Commenting on a purported rift between him and the incumbent, he said ‘he should keep quiet and let me do my work. I have severally initiated moves to reconcile with him after he lost the primaries but he is not giving me that opportunity. He has refused to return my calls and all efforts by the party’s council of elders to get us together have also proven futile. He was personally informed of Nana Addo’s visit but he refused to show up but. He also refused to introduce me in front of Nana Addo until he was pressured by the Regional Chairman and reluctantly did that”

The candidate rebutted claims he has always sponsored independent candidates against the party’s wondering who could be behind that falsehood.

He alleges that the incumbent won the sit on a silver platter and not on merit and is denigrating him because he lost at the primaries

“I have lost the elections twice but have not withdrawn my support for the party. He is reluctant to work with me to ensure victory of the party and I have taken all the steps to get him onboard to no avail. He should not blame me for media publications because I am not a journalist”
