I will unseat NPP MP – Victor Smith

Victor Smith Victor Smith

The National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for the Abuakwa North constituency, Victor Smith has expressed confidence that he will snatch the seat from the incumbent Member of Parliament Gifty Twum-Ampofo although the constituency is the NPP’s stronghold.

Speaking to Class News, Twum Ampofo described the NDC’s agenda of winning 50 per cent of votes in the Eastern Region as laughable and impossible.

In a swift rebuttal, Mr Smith described the MP as a novice in politics whose tenure will come to an end at the December polls.

“She is a small fry [and] I’m taking the seat from her. The people are now determined to have development because they have never had development under the NPP,” he stated.

“The people are waking up now. Why are so many people leaving her party and positioned to join development under me? Why is she not answering that question? Who has quit NDC to go to NPP? They are quitting in [large numbers] in NPP to join me not because of anything I’m given them [but] the fact that somebody is actually serious about their progress and their future and for their children and their grandchildren,” the Ghanaian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom added.

Mr Smith emphasised that his constituents were wide awake and ready to vote for change and not for party colours.

“I was able to encourage a private investor to put a hospital for the first time in Kukurantumi, that’s where we both come from. … In the past they had hoodwinked the people into believing that it always has to be the NPP whether you get progress or not but the people are saying that our eyes are opened now, we are not going to waste our vote anymore, we want serious development”.
