I won’t apologize to you – Ahi to Sanitation Minister

Member of Parliament for Bodi, Sampson Ahi Member of Parliament for Bodi, Sampson Ahi

Member of Parliament for Bodi and former Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi has called the bluff of the Minister of Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah who has threatened to sue the MP if he does not apologize to her.

It follows concerns raised by Mr Ahi over some expenditures including clothing and entertainment allowances in the Ministry’s budget.

According to Mrs Dapaah, Mr Ahi’s claim that the said allowances were meant for her personal gain were untrue and have defamed her. She wants an apology but Sampson Ahi says he’ll not apologize stating his readiness to meet the Minister in court should she pursue the matter.

“I didn’t attribute it to her per say, I was talking about the Ministry that why should we provide monies to the Minister and the Directors to entertain themselves, How does this constitute a defamatory statement, did you know it if I had not even probed into it for it to come out. If you saw that document and you saw that they’ve written in it entertainment allowance, domestic servant allowance, clothing allowance what would have been your conclusion?

“What is there to apologize for, so far as they are in her budget the motion that she brought to Parliament I don’t think that constitute defamation. If she had denied that those things are not even in the budget and that I brought them to defame her that would have been a different thing. But this is a budget she sent, I spoke on it on the floor of Parliament. Since when did a member of Parliament speaking on the floor constitute a crime,” Hon. Ahi asked in an interview with Starr News.
