“I could not have stayed in Ghana had Mahama won the elections” - Maurice Ampaw told a TV show host on UTV.

The controversial lawyer bemoaned the arrogance and affluence of 8 NDC appointees saying a win in 2016 would have made it worse.

Ghanaian lawyer, Maurice Ampaw, has expressed his delight that former president John Dramani Mahama was voted out of power in the 2016 General Elections.

The controversial lawyer was speaking on the Accra-based TV station, UTV when he spoke of his delight in the new leadership of Ghana.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, lawyer Ampaw is seen vehemently stating that he could have stayed in Ghana had John Mahama won the elections.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the current president of Ghana, beat John Mahama with close to a million votes to win the presidency for the National Patriotic Party.

According to Maurice Ampaw, the NDC’s 8 years in power had made them arrogant and winning the election again would have made it worse and caused them to “get more money”.

When quested by the show host on whether his conclusions on the NDC were based on hearsay, Ampaw insisted that it was due to his “personal observation”, what he had heard and the proceedings in Ghana.

He also strained that the NDC had installed ministers of state who were “fresh out of school”.

Citing an example, the controversial lawyer state that Haruna Iddrisu, who was Minister of Information under the NDC, was his “junior” in school.
