ICU, PMSU elect co-ordinating council executive in Ho

Ho, March 9 GNA - The Industrial and Commercial Union (ICU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) and Professional and Managerial Staff Union (PMSU) on Monday elected a seven-member Co-ordinating Council executive to steer the affairs of the Union for a four-year period.

The Executives, who were elected after a two-day brainstorming seminar on the new Labour Bill has Mr Emmanuel V. Obeng-Adu representing the National Investment Bank (NIB) as Chairman, Mr Morrison M. Dove of Aluworks as Vice-Chairman, while Mr Francis Yohuno representing the Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) was elected Secretary.

The rest are, Mr Ebenezer Kugblenu of the Songor Salt as Assistant Secretary; while Mrs Bridget Nyamekye representing Women's World Banking and Mr Isaac Assah of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) as First and Second Trustees respectively; with Mr Samuel D. Larnyo of the Ghana Biscuit Company elected as an executive member of the Council, in an election supervised by the Volta Regional Directorate of the Electoral Commission.

Mr Napoleon Kpoh, General Secretary of the ICU exhorted the new Executive to live above reproach to enable them to surmount the laborious task ahead.

He urged them to plan pragmatic strategies that are Trade Union friendly which would enhance fair play, harmony and uphold the interest of the entire work force.

Mr Obeng-Adu, on behalf of his colleagues pledged to carry out the task with diligence and dedication for the growth and development of trade unionism in the country.
