General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has justified the decision of the party to boycott all Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) related events.

He indicated that authorities within the IEA have over the period made a public show of gross disrespect towards the NDC and its leaders maintaining that until there is mutual respect, the party will not be part of any exercise involving the think tank.

“The IEA has insulted us despite concerns we raised on some of the issues. They have grown horns and keep disrespecting us. It is like a master-servant relationship and this is why we have reviewed our relationship with them”, he said.

Speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast Show hosted by Lantam Papanko, he cited instances where the IEA organized an imbalanced anti corruption forum where it subjected government to bashing and efforts by him to correct some misinformation were not yielded.

“The Principal speakers the IEA called to the forum were all anti NDC elements and when I tried making a contribution, the microphone was literally snatched from me”, he said.

The NDC scribe observed that the IEA’s claims of being fair, equitable and pursing good governance is in doubt considering how it is positioning itself as competitors to constitutional bodies in the country.
