IEA’s platforms are ‘bogus’ – APC

File photo: All People File photo: All People

The All People’s Party (APC) has described the Institute of Economic Affairs’ platforms for presidential and vice-presidential candidates to market themselves and their ideas ahead of the December polls, as “worthless, irrelevant and bogus”, thus, not worth the time and day of flagbearer Hassan Ayariga.

In a statement signed by APC General Secretary Razak Kojo Opoku, the party said the IEA’s Evening Encounters with flagbearers of parties with representation in parliament as well as the IEA Conversation with flagbearers of parties without representation in parliament are a joke to the APC.

The party has, therefore, said its flagbearer will boycott the IEA as far as the 2016 polls are concerned.

Below is the APC’s full statement:

IEA PLATFORM IS A SERIOUS JOKE TO APC
---------------------------------------
The platform of the IEA for the Presidential Candidates and Vice-Presidential Candidates has totally becomes irrelevant to the Ghanaian electorate.

The Board and Management of IEA are very confused. IEA now has "IEA EVENING ENCOUNTER" for Parties with Representation in Parliament and "IEA CONVERSATION" for Parties without Parliament Representation.

Presidential Candidates for NPP, CPP and PNC are being hosted in a much respected conference room with Air Condition whereas presidential candidates for parties without representation in parliament are hosted in a much disrespectful venue, precisely IEA Garden, full of mosquitoes.

This is clearly a nonsensical partiality being demonstrated by the IEA to Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (NDP 2016 Presidential Candidate).

All People's Congress (APC) is a very serious registered political party with structures bigger than the IEA, and we SHALL NEVER authorise our noble leader and 2016 presidential candidate to participate in the bogus 2016 presidential debate organised by the worthless IEA.

The IEA Platform is too tiny for Dr. Hassan Ayariga to market himself as well as project the policies and programmes of APC to the Ghanaian Voters.

Lastly, I pity Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings for her very poor delivery at the IEA Conversation. Madam, with all the noise and vilifications against your husband’s party, we thought you are going to be the best alternative to NDC, but surprisingly your analysis and responses to the questions at IEA shows that you and your NDP are not really serious for political power.

You couldn't utilise 19 years of political power as a First Lady to transform Ghana and positively change lives, what can you use four years of political power to achieve?
