The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) is scheduled to hold presidential and vice-presidential debates in October and November 2024.

The IEA stated that it has initiated discussions with other political parties to ensure their participation in the event.

Speaking with journalists in Accra on August 7, 2024, IEA fellow Justice Sophia Akuffo emphasized that the debates will offer voters a better understanding of each candidate's policies and provide a platform for assessment.

"The IEA plans to hold the meetings in September and the debates in October and November. We will announce the specific dates, times, and venues after engaging with candidates and their political parties," Justice Akuffo said.

She also stated, "We encourage everyone to stay updated on the IEA website at www.ieagh.org."

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has invited the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, to a debate on the economy.

However, the NDC has rejected the invitation, claiming that the NPP leader is attempting to revive his political career, which they believe to be long dead.
