The President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Ghana, Engr. Henry Kwadwo Boateng, has called upon the people of Bawku to embrace peace and unity, stressing the need to end all hostilities that have caused hardship and division in the community.

Engr. Boateng urges all parties to work together, setting aside differences, to create a safer and more secure environment for all residents.

He emphasized that now, more than ever, the region must focus on a larger, common threat—illegal mining—which has become a pressing menace, endangering natural resources, public health, and future generations. Engr. Boateng highlighted the severe environmental degradation and socio-economic damage caused by illegal mining, urging the people of Bawku to join forces with the Coalition Against Illegal Mining to tackle this critical issue head-on.

"As a nation, we cannot allow illegal mining to continue stripping us of our resources and livelihoods," Engr. Boateng stated. "The well-being of our communities depends on our commitment to sustainable practices, which can only be achieved through cooperation and peace."

Engr. Boateng called for unity and proactive engagement from every individual, encouraging the people of Bawku to look towards a brighter, more prosperous future built on harmony, environmental stewardship, and collective action.
