Ghana's Inspector General of Police, Mr. John K. Kudalor and his Nigerian counterpart, Mr. Solomon E. Arase have held bilateral talks at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on how they can forge ahead and cooperate in policing to advance safety and security in their respective countries.

They discussed common challenges facing them, including the Fulani menace, cyber security, terrorism, training and current trends in policing.

Mr. Kudalor stressed the need for them to regularly exchange ideas and support each other since they have common problems that require sharing of experiences and intelligence.

On his part, Mr. Arase noted that from the discussions it as become very clear that they have similar problems and experiences, like the problems of the nomadic Fulani herdsmen, which requires tact, else it will become dangerous if not properly handled.

He supported the idea of sharing intelligence and crime analysis, considering the present technological advancement and sophisticated crimes in the world.

The COPS at this summit will also examine new perspectives on national policing challenges and the benefits for officers deploying to United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Another key topic of discussion will be how best to enhance United Nations Police performance through intelligence, technology, innovation and Police capacity building.

In addition, the summit will provide an opportunity for Member states to gain a better understanding on the current and projected needs of United Nation Police.
