IGP is watching your back – Police personnel assured

The Inspector General of Police(IGP) David Asante Apeatu has assured Police Personnel in Ghana that the Police administration is watching their backs in the enforcement of law and order in the country in the country.

Police personnel have recently become target of attack by criminals as many have killed with the latest being the broad day light killing of Constable Daniel Owusu at Abeka Lapaz who was gunned down in attempt to arrest two armed robbers, creating fear among personnel who mostly work without protective accoutrements and firearms.

However Dr. George Akufo Dampare, Director General of Operation for the Ghana Police Service speaking on behalf of the IGP at Passing -out parade for 435 police recruits from the Koforidua Police Training School Wednesday, stated that “the Inspector General of police and his management team have your welfare at heart and will do whatever he could to protect you.”

The IGP refreshed the minds of the recruits to the ambitious transformation agenda of the service which is embedded in the 2016 manifesto of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and aimed at reforming the Ghana Police Service to be ranked among the the best ten Police service worldwide in the next four years.

He explained the transformation agenda would make Ghana Police Service a world class police service capable of delivering well Planned ,democratic,peaceful and protective policing .

The Eastern regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfuor charged the passed out police recruits to be disciplined and professional in the discharge of duties assigned to protect the integrity of the Police device as well as the Country.
