Though directed to present a report on the February 3 clash between police and demonstrators in Kenyase and Duase to Parliament, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has rather sent his report to the minister of interior.
IGP Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan was given two weeks by Speaker Edward Doe Adjaho last month to report to the House on circumstances that led to the clash in the Ashanti Region.
But after four weeks, nothing was heard on the Speaker’s order, prompting the Member of Parliament for Kwabre East Constituency, Kofi Frempong, to find out what has become of the matter.
“Mr Speaker, two weeks has elapsed and we are in the fourth week,” Mr Frempong stated on the floor on Friday. “My people have not heard anything about it,” he stressed.
The Speaker, however, disclosed that the IGP has rather sent the report to the Ministry of Interior.
“The latest information is that the IGP has submitted the report to the minister of interior because he has no audience on the floor of this House which, in my view, is proper,” Speaker Doe Adjaho answered.
