IGP stands in rains to inaugurate musical theater

The rains started immediately the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, was called to address the gathering at the inauguration of the Eastern Regional Police Musical Theatre at Koforidua.

The IGP refused an umbrella that was offered him and stood in the rain to read his speech until a raincoat was finally brought to him.

He commended the Regional Police Command for taking up the initiative to build a music theatre and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors.

The IGP tasked the bands men to have passion and commitment to their work.

Nana Kodua Kesse, the Oyokohene and a Member of the Council of State, said the government had plans to improve upon accommodation for the police personnel in the country and rehabilitate all the old buildings of the service.

He commended the work of the Regional Police Command for providing a permanent home for the Regional Police Band and urged other regions to follow the example.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Akuriba Yaagy, the Regional Police Commander, urged the band to produce their own songs that could support the service in their fight against crime.

DCOP Yaagy said the lyrics of the songs should help in behavioral change and reformation to help reduce criminal activities.

The Regional Commander thanked Joy Industries, All Nations University College, Polytank and other institutions and individuals who sponsored the project.
