IMANI Boss: Ghana will not need IMF if…

The Founding President of IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe has stated that, Ghana’s ailing economy which has left the country to seek a bail-out from the IMF could have been resolved.

According to him, corruption has engulfed the Mahama-led administration whiles the Minister of Finance, Seth Terkper has proven he is incapable to manage the economy.

“Minister of Finance is too defensive on his inability to manage the economy. Almost all his prescriptions are theoretical but the reality is that he is supervising a badly run economy with abundant theft in payroll fraud costing us Ghc1bn and other scams now reaching Ghc 3bn,” he said.

“If he [Seth Terkper] manages to rein in just these two theft projects, we would not need the IMF!” he added.

Meanwhile, the IMF has confirmed that its visit to Ghana is the final round of negotiations for any bailout program to be sealed.

This should mean that if the team fails to reach any conclusions on the bailout talks it might be difficult for government to meet its target of having a program by April this year.

However, some weeks ago, President John Mahama met the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) to review the ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
