Founding President of Policy think-tank IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe has dared the immediate former Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Enterprise Support [YES] Fund, Kojo Adu Asare to [if he can] sue President John Dramani Mahama for firing him from his current position.
He explained that, the dismissed YES Boss had earlier threatened to sue him [Franklin Cudjoe] after he had called on President Mahama to relieve him of his post some weeks ago.
Franklin Cudjoe, a couple of weeks ago, called on President Mahama to sack Mr. Adu Asare for his involvement in the poor management of the Black Stars' World Cup campaign in Brazil.
In an interview with Citi FM and a further campaign on Facebook, Franklin Cudjoe opined that, “If the gentleman who…had a simple objective of attracting corporate funds and using it for something else will be the same gentleman that will go and sit clearly on this YES fund, I think it borders on issues of integrity. I will advise him [Adu Asare] to resign from the YES thing immediately or the president should sack him with immediate effect.”
The then YES Chief Executive, Kojo Adu Asare, who was unenthused with Franklin Cudjoe’s assertions, threatened to sue him since he has no evidence of his accusations.
“I will take him [Franklin Cudjoe] to court,” he was reported in the media.
News of Adu Asare's dismissal was announced on Monday.
The YES fund is a Government of Ghana programme initiated by President Mahama with ten million Ghana cedis (Ghc10,000,000) seed fund to assist young Ghanaians with creative and ground-breaking business ideas and plans to become respected entrepreneurs.
Adu Asare also known as “Swagger” was appointed barely two months ago to head the Secretariat of YES after President John Mahama launched the initiative in August 2014.
But in a surprise move on Monday, government announced that, Kojo Adu Asare will be replaced by Helga Boadi, a banking professional.
The policy think-tank boss, Franklin Cudjoe, who seems happy with Adu Asare’s dismissal, lauded President Mahama for the decision but questioned when GYEEDA, SUBAH and SADA wrongdoers will also be chastised.
“Yeah Mahama! [President] When I asked that the man be sacked from YES for misapplying World Cup funds, he [Adu Asare] said he was taking me to court. Now he has been sacked just two months in the job...Now he should take Mahama to court....but wait.....GYEEDA SUBAH SADA are still pending,” he posted on Facebook.
