The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) has deployed several measures aimed at helping to stop illegal mining activities in the wake of the lifting of the ban on small-scale mining activities.
The ban, though, might have been lifted, the tendency for people within the industry to outwit the system is high.
To this end, there has been the need for a state-of-the-art technology to be deployed across the mining districts as well as the various sites.
There drones will monitor activities on the mining sites which are connected to data centres at the district and regional levels which will be forwarded to Accra.
These drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras including night vision ones which will capture photographs of activities on the mining sites.
The following photos are some of the drones which will be deployed on mining sites.
All these form part of the measures instituted by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining to help combat illegal mining in the country.
This is in line with President Akufo-Addo’s overwhelming desire to sanitize the environment which has been at the mercy of illegal miners for many years in the country.
