The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said they have decided to withhold some of the discrepancies they identified in the electoral process from the Electoral Commission (EC). 

This decision was made during the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 1, 2024, where the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, explained that this strategic move aims to ensure a more calculated approach.

According to a report by myjoyonline.com, Dr. Boamah noted that the EC had accepted three out of the five pieces of evidence presented by the NDC. 

However, he pointed out that the EC provided explanations for the discrepancies it did not accept, which led the NDC to withhold the "full gamut" of their findings.

"That is one of the reasons – it is not strategic to provide the Electoral Commission with the full gamut of what we have,” he said.

Dr. Boamah also pointed out the EC's omission of a specific case involving a voter named Ernest Ofori, who had transferred his vote. 

He expressed the need for a forensic audit of both the voter register and the EC's IT systems to ensure transparency and fairness in the upcoming elections.

“So the PVR that we were given, if you analyse them, would you have arrived at the same conclusion? The answer is yes. As you try to rationalize after having the information, what you forget is that you are assembling what you did not provide political parties with to rationalize,” he remarked.

He argued that the high coefficient of bias necessitates this forensic audit, as it would provide a more accurate and unbiased assessment of the electoral process.
