Wa, Oct. 11, GNA - Mr Caesar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, has called on members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Student Union to work hard to ensure justice and peace for all. He said it was only through that they could be distinguished as true Catholics and different from others.
Mr Kale was addressing members of the Northern Zonal Inter-Tertiary Institutions annual Conference of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (ITI-CCR) Student Union held in Wa. He appealed to them to encourage their colleagues to channel their energies into productive ventures and contribute toward national development.
Mr Kale said government was concerned with the challenges facing young people particularly in the areas of employment, education and housing as well as drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and youth violence. He said government had initiated realistic programmes to ensure that young people participate fully in its policy formulation and implementation processes as well as decision making process. One of such policies, Mr Kale said was the promulgation of the Youth Policy to give more voice to the youth in development and governance issues.
He appealed to religious leaders and all other stakeholders not to hesitate to speak against the menace of homosexuality and the many other social vices plaguing the society. He said 93even though legally and morally, the Ghanaian society frowns on same sexual relations, there have been several reports of gays and lesbians organizing clandestine events in some parts of the country and all must show concern about it".
