Takoradi, May 11, GNA - Idi Ibrahim, an unemployed resident at Sekondi Zongo was on Wednesday arraigned at Takoradi Circuit Court "A" for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty was remanded in prison custody to re-appear on May 20, this year.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Joe Hedidor told the court that, at about 1430 hours on January 13, this year, the Police found the accused in possession of narcotic drugs in a bush behind the offices of the Sekondi Sub-Metropolitan Assembly.
He said when the Police arrived at the scene, the accused was cutting some dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp with scissors. Chief Inspector Hedidor said, during a search on him after his arrest, the Police found 22 wrappers of the leaves, a whitish substance, suspected to be cocaine, a smoking pipe and a wrapper containing another whitish substance, believed to be heroin in his pocket.
He said the leaves and the whitish substances were sent to the Police Forensic Laboratory for examination and they were found to be Indian hemp, cocaine and heroin.
