Mr Ben Anyagre, Interim Secretary of Kwame Nkrumah Ideological Institute, says powerful anti-Pan African forces and allies are standing the way of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s vision of “African Personality”.
He said the late president’s vision of a strong African personality is very relevant to position Africa on the world stage politically, economically and socially.
Speaking to Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra on Tuesday, Mr Anyagre said Nkrumah’s vision of African Personality could facilitate inter-continental leadership, which should include a common currency and common market.
“Unfortunately the socio-economic situation in the continent is forcing people to contemplate what Osagyefo was talking about,” he said.
Mr Anyagre said the present leaders on the continent need the bold leadership of the late leader to ensure more vibrant sub-regional and regional bodies like ECOWAS and AU.
He said weak sub-regional and regional protocols such as the free flow of persons and goods are undermining efficient inter and intra African trade and industry.
Mr Anyagre said: “African leaders do not have bold voices to speak for the continent. We don’t even have inter-Africa cultural performances and this is not right.”
