The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has advised former President John Dramani Mahama to adhere to election rules and follow proceedings as he aims to lead the country again.

According to Otumfuo, elections are not about violence but God's intervention and the people's choice, so using force to win power will not prevail.

Addressing Mahama during his courtesy call to him at the Manhyia Palace on December 3, 2024, he stated, "Elections are not about violence. Everybody should vote peacefully and allow their agents to sign after the results have been counted.

"If we abide by those standards, I believe God will show us who should become the leader of the country. If God does not crown you king and you want to use force, it will not work.

"So, what I want to tell him is that, in the few days remaining, he should tell Ghanaians about his policies and explain them better to them. What you did for the Ashanti Region and what you will do also, use the remaining days to explain to them. We pray for him and bless him as well, that whatever he is looking for, God should provide it for him."

Meanwhile, John Dramani Mahama once again shot down claims that he intends to cancel the Free Senior High School policy if he is elected president on December 7, 2024.

According to the former president, such claims are nothing but absolute lies being perpetuated by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Mahama assured that he has no intent to cancel the policy, which he said was started by his erstwhile government.

"So that thing they keep saying, Nana, you know me, you are one of those who nurtured me, and you know I don't lie. So, I stand before you today and affirm that the lies being peddled that we will cancel Free SHS is a lie; there is no iota of truth in that," he stated.

He also accused the ruling party of taking issues of development in the Ashanti Region for granted because of the support the party enjoys in the region and assured the Asantehene of his commitment to developing the region when elected president.

He called for Otumfuo's blessing while emphasizing his assurance to reset the country's path towards growth and development.
