MR. I. K. GYASI, the renowned educationist and writer has observed that while ex-President J.J. Rawlings was treated cynically when he claimed "good Samaritans' were helping pay for his children's education and maintaining the sundry assets he possessed, "more than $100,000 is paid to Ms. Alexandria O'Brien by Dr. Anane with the help of friends and relations and we say that is fine."
Reacting to the swearing in of Honourable Isaac Edumadze, Sheikh I. C. Quaye and Dr. Richard Anane, in his famous Bluntly Speaking column in The Chronicle today, the respected observer, noted that while Rawlings was in power for almost twenty years yet people doubted his assertion, Anane "was comparatively a mere minister and he acquires all those well-heeled friends prepared to bear the cost of his sexual escapades and we say that is fine."
Conceding that we were all sinners, he nevertheless asserted that, it did not excuse the three men. "Yes, we are all sinners one way or the other. We throw our weight about like Mr. Edumadze. We make claims we cannot defend like Sheik I. C. Quaye. And we can hardly take our eyes off a pretty woman, like Dr. Anane" but "that does not excuse what the three men did" he lamented, adding that, "it is a great pity that some of us are prepared to bend the moral and ethical rules."
He noted however that President Kufuor did not just swear the three in but had veiled rebukes for each.
