A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Osei Akoto, has served notice to the Electoral Commissioner, Jean Mensa, about the need for her to ensure that her work continues to preserve the democracy of Ghana.

He explained that it is imperative that the EC chairperson, together with her deputies, work hard to safeguard the hard-won democracy the country enjoys currently.

"If things continue like this, Ghana will be very hot for Jean Mensa and her crooked colleagues at the EC after December 7.

"Her husband, Dr. Charles Mensa was very instrumental in Ghana's fight for democracy and we will not allow her pomposity to undo the peace we currently enjoy," he wrote in a post on X on September 15, 2024.

This comment from the former National Organiser aspirant of the NDC comes on the back of several complaints and issues raised by the party, as well as other individuals regarding the voter register for the 2024 polls.

Among the concerns raised have included corrupted files and illegal voter transfers.

The Electoral Commission has defended its handling of the voter register, stating that it acknowledges the issues and has resolved them.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will embark on a demonstration it has tagged, Enough is Enough, also termed the 'mother of all demonstrations,' on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Accra, in protest of the EC's handling of the voter register.
