The General Overseer of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has warned his detractors praying for him to be crucified by the Ghana Police Service to be mindful of their deeds because he will not countenance such behavior.
Those plotting his downfall, he cautioned should repent or “prepare taking the lead to their grave.”
“If you want me dead, be careful because I will make sure you take the lead to the grave. I am a spiritual person and I will deal with whoever wants me killed”, he warned in his interaction with Accra-based Okay FM on Monday.
He was reacting to media reports suggesting that the Police have declared him wanted for publicly flogging two teenagers in his church for fornication.
He further noted the hullabaloo from a cross section of the public over his conduct is because of sheer jealousy, stressing that he will not fall to the trappings of those looking for his downfall.
He said although he has received a letter from the Police inviting him to their offices, “they never stated in the letter that I am a wanted man”.
“The police are my family members and I respect them a lot and vice versa. Because of this I have been supporting them in various ways and I don’t think they will declare me wanted because I have not killed anybody”, he noted.
Bishop Obinim has become a subject of public discussion after flogging two teenagers in his church last Wednesday for fornication. The duo he claimed were his adopted children and therefore has every right to discipline them when they go wrong.
Since then, the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has reported him to the Accra regional office of DOVVSU.
Also Human Rights Lawyer Francis Xavier Sosu and two others have filed suits against Obinim seeking to have him arrested and prosecuted for his conduct.
