The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public about a fraudster duping unsuspecting victims under the pretext of securing them UN mission jobs.
A statement from Director-General of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Police signed by ACP David Eklu which was released on Monday, 12 March 2018, said the fraudster is “misrepresenting the office of the Inspector-General of Police to make calls to unsuspecting members of the public, namely high placed officers about selection of police officers for UN Peacekeeping Mission among others”.
The police explained that the fraudster usually demands money from his victims under the fraudulent authority of the office of the IGP.
The law enforcement agency said such calls “purporting to be coming from the office of the IGP are totally false”.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to arrest the perpetrator. In view of that the police have directed the public to report any such calls to the nearest police station.
