Daboase (W/R), Sept 07, GNA - About 8,900 houses out of the estimated 10,000 have been coded under the Mpohor Wassa East District Health insurance Scheme.

The implementation committee of the scheme has also registered 10,019 households and collected about 12 million cedis as premiums from 1,000 contributors.

Mr Edward Tawiah Amprofi, the District Chief Executive who made this known at the second session of the district assembly on Tuesday, said the programme to implement the scheme in the district was on course. Some 39,785 people out of a population of 123,000 have been registered and the programme would soon take off in the district.

Mr Amprofi said the technical committee of the scheme would soon complete the constitution guarding the composition of board of directors and also the provision of identification card to beneficiaries.

On revenue, he said revenue for the assembly for the period under review was 1.213 billion cedis out of which 801.3 million cedis was generated internally.

A chunk of this amount was spent to provide infrastructure for water and sanitation, local government, health, agriculture roads sectors and offered scholarships to a number of students in JSS and tertiary institutions.

Some communities that benefited from the provision of potable water within the period included Domeabra, Nyankaakpe, Siantiaw, Nyamendae, Yaw Gyimah, Dabimeyeyei and Tosen

Mr Amprofi said as a result of the success of the mass cocoa-spraying programme in the district the number of spraying gangs had been increased from 45 to 50 to ensure that all cocoa farms were covered. Mr Samuel Ransford Effah, the presiding member of the assembly, advised revenue collectors of the assembly to exhibit a high sense of dedication and honesty to improve the revenue base of the assembly.
