Incumbent NDC MP Alhassan Ghansah retains Asikuma Odoben Brakwa seat

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate, who was the incumbent MP for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa constituency, Alhassan Ghansah was victorious in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

He polled a total of 25,244 votes, leading his closest contender, Winifred Abaidoo-Ayen of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who secured 22,498 votes.

Precious Mawolorm Amevour of the Ghana Union Movement received 265 votes.

In the presidential election, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress polled 25,145 votes, followed by Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party with 20,145 votes.

The total votes cast in the parliamentary election were 48,005, with 48,582 valid votes and 577 rejected ballots.

Meanhwile, Vice-President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, officially conceded defeat to his main opponent, John Dramani Mahama, in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election.

Dr. Bawumia made the announcement at a press conference on Sunday, December 8, 2024, emphasizing that his decision to concede defeat was motivated by the need to reduce tension and preserve national peace.

He promised that his government would ensure a smooth transition of power to John Mahama and is available to help when the need arises.
