Indecent assault on two year-old girl

Cape Coast July 23, GNA- Pierce Bonney, a mason, who allegedly inserted his fingers into the genitals of a two year-old girl was on Friday granted 30 million cedis bail with a surety to be justified by a circuit court at Cape Coast.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on August 3. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo told the court, presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh that, Bonney and the parents of the victim live in the same vicinity at Adisadel a suburb of Cape Coast.

He alleged that Bonney was said to be fond of the girl, and at times took her to his house and that on March 15 this year, the victim's mother detected that she was "uncomfortable", and cried anytime she wanted to clean her private parts.

He further alleged that when the mother examined her genitals, she found that it was sore and swollen, and the girl kept mentioning Bonney's name, and appeared to be afraid each time she saw him. According to Chief Inspector Amonoo, this prompted her grandmother to invite Bonney for questioning, but this was stopped, when the little girl started crying as soon as she saw him.

He said this made her (grandmother) suspicious and she therefore reported the matter to the police, but all efforts to arrest him proved futile until on July 7 he was spotted in town and arrested.
