Independent Candidate thanks President Kufuor

Wa, June 15, GNA - Mr. Ishak Dapilah, Independent Parliamentary candidate for Nadowli West constituency during the 2004 general elections on Wednesday expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President John Agyekum Kufuor for appointing Wing Commander (Rtd) Eric Dakurah as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nadowli.

He has also congratulated Wing Commander Dakurah for his appointment into the highest office of the District. These were contained in a release signed by Mr Dapilah and copied to the Ghana News Agency at Wa.

He said although he contested and lost in the area, he would be comfortable co-operating with him if his appointment was approved. "I am so happy because, this is the first time a native of Nadowli is given this highest seat although the District capital has always been in Nadowli since its creation."

Mr Dapilah said the appointment of Wing Commander Dakurah was a testimony to the government's sensitivity to the plight of the masses in society.

Meanwhile, GNA's investigations have revealed that most of the appointed candidates and their supporters have embarked on massive lobbying tours to convince the Assembly members to vote for their approval.

Last Saturday candidates for Sissala East, Nadowli, Jirapa/Lambissue and Lawra Districts were named while Wa Municipal, Wa East, Wa West and Sissala West candidates are yet to be named.
