Nkawkaw, Sept. 21, GNA - Mr Seth Adjei-Baah, Managing Director of Shaaba Enterprise, is to contest the Nkawkaw constituency parliamentary seat as an independent candidate.
He announced his intention to contest the seat during the celebration of the fifth anniversary celebration of the "Shaaba" Fan Club at Nkawkaw on Sunday.
Mr Adjei-Baah called for co-operation and support to win the seat to effect change in the living standards of the people. He said even though most of the people in the constituency are traders, the municipality could not boost of any large market and lorry park to enhance trading activities and urged the people to vote for him to solve these problems.
Mr Adjei-Baah said he would ensure that the only football club in the area, Okwahu United, which was relegated to Division one a few years ago, is brought back to the Premier Division. He also promised to improve the health and educational needs of the people of the constituency. The Chairman of the Fan Club, Mr Dickson Achirem, said since the formation of the club five years ago, many people, mostly women had gained employment following the institution of free training in batik, tie and dye, cultivation of ginger and pineapple by the club in the constituency.
He said Mr Adjei-Baah is the only person who could change their living standard and urged them to vote for him in the parliamentary election to solve their problems. A leading member of the New Patriotic Party in the constituency, Mr Evans Abankwa, said many people at the function were members of the NPP who had decided to vote for the independent candidate. He called on the National Executive Committee of the party to solve numerous problems in the various constituencies for the NPP to retain power. Mrs Veronica Okyere, Women's organizer of the club, advised the women to intensify their campaign for more women to vote for Mr Adjei-Baah to enable them to be gainfully employed so that they would be able to educate their children to be responsible adults in future.
