Kumasi, May 7, GNA - The College of Art and Social Sciences (CA= SS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has rewarded 23 individuals and corporate bodies for hard work and outstandin= g contribution to the development of the College. Tettey, Mr Charles Frimpong and Mrs Ulzen Appiah, all of the College, and= Mr Coby Asmah, Chief Executive Officer, Type Company Limited were among the recipients. The corporate bodies included Ghana Commercial Bank, HFC Bank Limited, VALCO Trust Limited and the Ghana Association of Bankers. Prof W. O. Ellis, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University, underlined the resolve of the institution to train the required manpower to meet the nation's industrial demand.
He congratulated the award winners for their support towards the growth of the College. Mr Asmah called for stepping up of the university's distance education programme to enable more people to benefit. He also suggested that it established campuses in other parts of t= he country to bring quality education closer to all. Prof Daniel Ohene-Adu, Dean, Faculty of Fine Art and Chairman of the Awa= rds Committee, said he was confident this would motivate others to do their b= it to help the university.
