The Information Services Department has conducted intensive education on the novel coronavirus and its effects within the Effia Kwesiminitim Municipal Assembly, Takoradi.

Public education was organised in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the Ghana Health Service (GHS), to create awareness about the deadly virus facing the country in recent times.

Addressing the public through the Municipal Information van, individuals were urged to increase efforts towards the fight against the virus and its implications in the Municipality.

The team, during the sensitization, urged the populace not to panic, and also not to refrain from visiting the clinic or hospital when these symptoms are noticed.

The exercise which was done over a period of 10 days, concentrated on markets, streets, community centers lorry stations, bars etc, and other key areas within the municipality.

The team further urged them to wash their hands with soap under running water regularly, keeping social distance, using hand sanitizers and in effect, maintain all the required safety protocols to protect themselves and others and also to avoid further spread of the disease.

Western region has since recorded one case of coronavirus.
