Founder and leader of United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike is urging former President John Dramani Mahama to suggest possible measures to curb the growing insecurity in the country.
“You have identified the problem and you need to bring your solution. Don’t keep things to yourself”, the UPP founder pointed out during a panel discussion monitored by MyNewsGh.com on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show hosted by Papa Nyameke.
According to Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike, the former Commander-In-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces was right to call for the Akufo-Addo government to provide maximum security for the citizenry
“Mahama has been in the driving seat of this country so he understands security in the country well so let him bring his ideas”, Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike added, however, urging the government not to turn a blind eye to Mr. John Mahama’s call.
It would be recalled that former President John Dramani Mahama has raised concerns over the rising insecurity in the country and is reported to have said that the Akufo-Addo government is failing to guarantee the peace and safety of Ghanaians.
According to him, the country’s reputation as a peaceful destination in the sub-region is being threatened by the recent spate of violent crimes that have often seen no justice for victims.
Speaking at the final burial rites of the killed National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Daffiama Busie Issa constituency of the Upper West Region Richard Bayiviala Polibong, John Mahama said the death of the chairman was a reflection of the heightened level of insecurity in the country.
45-year-old Richard Bayiviala Polibon was killed by unknown assailants while returning from a funeral in his constituency.
The Police are yet to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous crime several weeks after the incident occurred.
