In-depth reportage giant, Integrity Magazine today, March 9, 2019 hit the streets with their maiden health walk to create health awareness and improve upon the health status of residents and officers in the enclave of the airport residential area.
The health walk dubbed ‘Get a Second Opinion’ took off at the Marriot hotel through Aviation social centre, Elwak sports stadium, 37 traffic light, Airport traffic light and back to the hotel, after which an aerobics session was held.
“The idea of a health walk is to keep our patrons healthy, to have them exercise as regularly as is medically required,” Chief Editor at Integrity Magazine Rev. Kennedy Okosun noted.
He further revealed that the health walk would be held monthly and replicated in several parts of the capital city monthly.
“This is an initiative that would be replicated in different parts of Accra, so we’re starting this off this morning for the first time, but every month we will do this, and it will move from zone to zone within Accra.”
“What we have lined up is to do this at Roman ridge...Cantonments, Labone, Trassaco valley estates, Airport hills, parts of East Legon and North Ridge...so we’ll do this every month till December”.
He emphasized the need for Ghanaians to exercise daily, a minimum of 20 – 30 minutes to avoid some dire consequences of poor health.
“Exercise requires a rhythm, particularly when you do aerobics you there’s a rhythm to it and your body needs that rhythm…exercise everyday if you can, if you cannot, at least exercise 5 days in a week …this will keep you healthy and save you from some of the illness that have become popular these days.”
The ‘Get a Second Opinion’ health walk was organized in conjunction with Marriot hotel, Healthnet Airport Medical Centre and C&J hospital and mainly targeted at the patrons and subscribers of the aforementioned groups.
