Accra, Aug. 31, GNA - An interdenominational service was on Sunday held at the State House to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the life of Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia, former Prime Minister of Ghana.
The service, which was interspersed with reading of tributes, choral music by the Winneba Youth Choir and "Fontomfrom" drumming by the IndigenAfrica was to climax a week long activities planned to mark the late Prime Minister's life.
Preaching the sermon, The Very Reverend Emmanuel K. Asante, President of the Trinity Theological College, described the late Dr Busia as a man whose legacy inspired justice because he always sought and honoured God in all his ways.
He said the greatest quality expected of Kings and Presidents according to the Bible was wisdom without which one could not dispense judgment.
Very Rev. Asante said "wisdom inspires truth...is more precious than the precious things we cherish...and the neglect of God is the absence of wisdom".
According to him Dr Busia was a man who believed that learning without God was empty and knowledge would not be better off unless it was used to serve humanity better.
Emeritus Professor J H. Kwabena Nketia, Ghana's illustrious Musicologist in his tribute described Dr Busia as a man who made great contributions and meaning to his life saying, "He saw possibilities where others could not see."
He said his recent book on "The Dynamics of music making in Africa" would be dedicated to the late Prime Minister whose hope, conviction and determination permeated through all his endeavours.
Dr Owusu Akoto, Vice President of the Busia Foundation announced that a documentary film on the life of Dr Busia would soon be completed adding that a "15 foot bronze statute of him would also be installed soon in Kumasi.
