Navrongo, (UE), Jan 5, GNA - Political parties have been asked to bury their differences and collectively move the nation's development agenda forward.
Mr. Mark Woyongo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central in the just-ended elections, made the statement on Sunday in Navrongo. It was when jubilant supporters of the NDC took to the streets to celebrate the party's victory in Election 2008.
Mr. Woyongo asked the people in the Navrongo community not to allow party politics to divide them instead they should unite for development in the area.
He called on chiefs and politicians to corporate for the development of the area saying "No meaningful development can thrive amidst indifferences, bitterness and rancour between Members of Parliament and the Chiefs".
Mr. Woyongo pledged to ensure peace, harmony and co-existence between politicians and the chiefs.
He called on the people to help fight against poverty, illiteracy and ignorance to bridge the gap between the Northern and Southern parts of Ghana to prevent the youth from migrating to the southern sector of Ghana in search of non-existent jobs.
Apart from NDC Supporters, those of the People's National Convention (PNC), Convention People's Party (CPP) and the New Patriotic Party(NPP) rode motorcycles and tooted horns, chanted party slogans and danced to music.
