Interior Ministry To Use Drug Baron’s Seized Assets

The Ministry of the Interior, has presented a letter signed by Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyeman to cabinet seeking approval for the Narcotics Control Board to be permitted to use the properties and other assets seized from narcotic drug traffickers and dealers for improving upon their operations, as is the normal practice in many countries.

A memorandum sited by the GHANAIAN VOICE from the Ministry of the Interior to the cabinet noted that, Illicit trafficking and abuse of drugs pose a serious threat to the socio-economic and political development of all nations, particularly developing nations.

The drug menace threatens every fabric of the society especially the youth who are the future leaders.

According to the GHANAIAN VOICE also, the Board’s attempt to incorporate the principle relating to Treatment, Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration had not been successful due to financial constraints.
