The National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Freddie Blay has asked the Commission on Human Right and Administrative Justices (CHRAJ), to investigate Former President John Dramani Mahama’s vehicles he gifted his party sometime back before going after him.

“On the issues of cars, are you aware that former President Mahama at least publicly has put out that he has given the NDC 40 Mahindra pick-ups? Mr Mahama holds a bigger office yet he is able to buy forty pickups and yet he is not questioned”. Mr. Richard Nyamah spokesperson for Freddy Blay revealed in an interview with GBC’s “Behind the News” programme monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

An Accra High Court has directed CHRAJ to find Mr. Freddy Blay and serve him with summons on its investigation into his procurement of some 275 in the lead up to the party’s National Delegates’ Conference last year to elect party officials.

Mr. Blay has not been found to be served with his summons according to Lawyer for CHRAJ who revealed in court.

According to him, the National Chairman of the NPP has refused to respond to several requests from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice to provide it with information about the 275 buses he purchased for the party.

The investigation follows a petition by a group called Coalition for Social Justice sent to CHRAJ stating that the purchase of the buses by Mr. Blay amounted to vote buying and a case of corruption which needs to be probed.

But in response, Mr. Blay said the buses were not procured to influence delegates adding that his party secured a bank facility to buy the buses shipped into the country last year.

Asked why his boss is not availing himself for the court if there is nothing to hide, Mr. Richard Nyamah asked CHRAJ to locate him serve him with the summons.

“I am telling you when Mr. Blay is properly served we will appear in court and answer them”, he added.

“Realistically, if you want to know how much somebody has spent on a car you don’t go and ask the person himself. Go to the port”, he chided.
