Gomoa Fetteh, Sept 5, GNA - The Gomoa Fetteh Youth Associaiton in the Central Region has appealed to the Police to investigate a bribery case levelled against Mr F E Nuamah, Registrar of the National House of Chiefs by some residents of Fetteh.
The Association pointed out that the allegation of 20 million cedis to the Registrar by Kwaku Dade, Kwaku Owu, Kwasi Akwando and one Amissa all of Fetteh, to delete the name of Nana Abor Yamoah II, Chief of the town, from the Register of Chiefs published in a newspaper was a crime that could not be swept under the carpet.
Addressing a news conference at Gomoa Fetteh at the weekend, Mr Jacob K.A. Amissah, National Chairman of the Association, stated that the bribe was a criminal offence, which could not be glossed over. Mr Amissah said for the four to openly confess that they offered a bribe to get the name of a Chief to be removed from the Register of Chiefs should not go un-investigated.
The Chairman said their confession had established the fact that they were stalling the Association's efforts to bring peace to the town. Mr Daniel A Essel, National Secretary, appealed to some members of the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council and other non-citizens of the town with what he called "vested interest" in the town to desist from fanning the Fetteh chieftaincy dispute.
He stated that as much as the Association would not like to dabble in chieftaincy matters, it would not sit down unconcerned for others to dictate to the people of the town.
Mr Essel questioned the wisdom in appointing a Regent for the town when Nana Yamoah was still performing his functions effectively.
