Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Hon. Fusieni Issah has called on the Emile Short Commission to invite the NDC National Chairman, Ofosu Ampofo.
A leaked tape purported to be the voice of Mr Ofosu-Ampofo in a meeting with party communicators said: “we’re going to take her [EC boss] to the cleaners.”
“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face,” Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the Ayawaso by-election.
As part of strategic communication plans for the NDC going into the 2020 elections, Ofosu-Ampofo also gave his blessings for the communicators to verbally attack the Peace Council chairman Professor Emmanuel Asante.
“For the first time, I will endorse insulting the National Peace Council Chair,” he said.
"...You have Chief Azorka in my meeting saying, Chief thank you, I asked him why he said that if you had not taken this decision I don’t know how my men would have gone back to Tamale. The issue is that they had brought down the Kandahar Boys and the Kandahar boys know our boys from Tamale. You know it was a targeted attack and so once they spot you they invite them. Around that time my people were so defenceless and they had packed themselves in pickups to cordon off and hounding them was very very easy and they had not anticipated all these things coming so it hasn’t been easy but for me how we took the battle from here was most critical.
But speaking to the tape on GHOne TV political morning show on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, the NPP's MP, Hon. Fusieni Issah believed that the tape is real and therefore called on the Short Commission to explain to Ghanaians why the NDC brought Azorka boys from Tamale to allegedly cause violence at Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election on January 31st 2019.
He condemned Ofosu Ampofo for allegedly planning 'evil' against the country.
"I'm very disappointed in the NDC National Chairman for planning evil against his own country and I will call on the Emile Short Commission to immediately invite Ofosu Ampofo to explain to Ghanaians why he planned that evil", he chided.
He added "No wonder the National Security has testified before Emile Short Commission that the National Security picked an intelligence from the NDC candidate's house that something bad was hiding there. Some of us are not surprised about this tape because the NDC was born out of violence".
