The Israeli Embassy in Ghana is organising a two-day agricultural seminar to promote and introduce an upcoming exhibition “AGRITECH 2012" scheduled for Tel Aviv from May 15-17.
It will also be a platform to showcase Israeli innovation in agriculture.
The seminar is being organised in collaboration with Ghana National Food and Agricultural Show (FAGRO) Secretariat at Cleaver House in Accra on Monday, March 26, and at Golden Tulip in Kumasi on Tuesday, March 27.
A statement issued in Accra on Friday said the seminar was expected to host highly experienced farmers and experts in Israeli agricultural technologies, with Mr Mondo Bosmat, as the lead speaker.
His lecture will focus on the principle of Israeli innovation in agriculture – “How to get more for less” where technologies focused on increasing the output and profitability while reducing the resources being used.
Dizengoff Ghana, one of the oldest and most respected agricultural companies in Ghana, will give a presentation on advanced irrigation solutions especially suitable for the Ghanaian agricultural market.
The FAGRO Secretariat, whose key objective is to assist in moving Ghana’s agriculture to a highly commercial stage and to create business and investment opportunities, said they are happy about the up-coming seminars, which present a lot of business opportunities for the Ghanaian agri-business community.
“We are hoping that many agricultural companies as possible will participate in AGRITECH in May in Israel. This will bring more innovation and technology into play during this year’s FAGRO, slated for August, 2012.”
AGRITECH 2012 is expected to attract more than 7,000 foreign visitors from 115 countries to find out new approaches and inventions to grow better crops, flowers and even fish and dairy cows.
AGRITECH 2012, the 18th International Agricultural Exhibition, is the go-to event for decision makers such as Ministers of Agriculture and other government officials as well representitives from 200 companies along with potential customers from North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
The statement said since the establishment of the State of Israel, her pioneers and entrepreneurs had miraculously succeeded in turning the desert green.
“Out of sheer necessity because of its location in one of the world’s most arid regions, Israel’s agriculture sector has turned out one advanced solution after another, revolutionising concepts in irrigation, recycling, crop storage, drought and disease resistance, biological pest control, purification and re-use of waste water for the thirsty needs of agriculture,” it added.**
