The vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), has asserted that it is only under the government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that Ghana has not experienced hunger.

According to him, the absence of hunger under the NPP government is a sign that God has blessed the party.

NAPO, who made this claim during his initial remarks at his unveiling as the running mate of NPP flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, also pointed to the good weather on the day as a sign of God's blessing for the party.

"Do you see the weather? Today, God did not let the sunshine, am I lying? He made it rain for the ground to be soft. God has blessed the NPP party. Anybody who says God has not blessed us is a liar.

"Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is the only president under whose 8 years of reign there has been no hunger, am I lying? For 8 years, there has been no hunger in Ghana," he said in the Twi dialect.

He added, "While the whole world was experiencing hunger, Ghana had food. Let us give thanks to God for what He has done for our party."
