THE EDITOR-in-chief of the Crusading Guide, Mr Kweku Baako Jnr, has spoken on the new two life-threatening letters sent to warn him to desist from stripping “Rawlings naked through press publications.
Mr Baako who spoke on Joy FM newsfile programme last Saturday's said it is absurd and unfortunate for people to think that he wrote the threatening letter to himself.
According to Mr Baako, the two threatening letters have sent fears into most of his young journalists working with him and that the typesetters of his paper are even considering whether to leave or not in view of the threats they are receiving.
Mr Baako on July 11 and 15, received the letters, warning him to steer clear of his prying into the stewardship of the former President and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, or else he would be “finished”.
The two life-threatening letters according to the Daily Dispatch state that “we are prepared to resist any attempts by any group, government or otherwise on the lives of the Rawlingses. “We are not professional soldiers, but can be deadly. Just try it”.
It goes on to threaten Mr Kweku Baako.
“When your legs, arms are amputated, we shall see which one you will use in walking or which one to write with”.
“Worse of all, when your mouth is permanently stitched we shall see which mouth you will use to express your thoughts for someone to write for you. You portray yourself as a man who is fearless.
When we meet anywhere in Labone, the victor would emerge”. Signed: The professional.
The second letter dated July 15, 2002, according to the Dispatch also threatening the life of Kweku Baako states: “Honourable, I take the opportunity to write you this letter. Sir, I have been following with keen interest utterances against the former President J.J. I would like to point to you that you will soon perish, together with those who paid you for the horrible assignment. Your end has come!
“As a journalist, what is expected of you is to talk of the present hardships. You have been given huge sums of money, so you don’t feel it.
The life threatening letter went on and on… “you would soon find yourself in your grave.
Believe me to be. You are joking. I should think your cup is full. Enough is enough”.
