It’s annoying to advertise NDC in pro NPP newspapers - Koku Anyidoho

Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of NDC Koku Anyidoho, Deputy General Secretary of NDC

Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho, has warned party bigwigs who are sponsoring the placement of adverts of President John Mahama and the party in pro opposition newspapers to desist from the act immediately.

According to him, these people who are influential risk incurring the wrath of the party if they continue with their act which he describes as “frustrating and annoying” to say the least.

Several adverts in the Daily Guide, a newspaper owned by Mr. Freddie Blay acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, promoting the re-election bid of President John Mahama in the forthcoming general elections have not been taken lightly by sections of the party, leading to unabated queries over his loyalty to the cause of the party.

Supporters of the largest opposition party are agitated over this development wondering why a newspaper which has sympathies to the party ceaselessly publishes achievements of the government the NPP is working very hard to oust during the crucial December 7 elections.

But Koku Anyidoho is equally not happy with the practice and wants it stopped immediately.

Speaking on Accra based Neat FM, the former Presidential Spokesperson, stated that he finds everything wrong with giving the ruling party’s adverts to pro opposition party, newspapers as such newspapers rake in huge monies from the adverts at while the pro government papers rather struggle with their finances.

“Even if they were national adverts we wouldn’t have issues with it, but these are political adverts. We see this happening in the Daily Guide Newspaper and it is very frustrating.

Those people who are managing the placement of these adverts in Daily Guide…and I want to place it on record that it is not being done at the National Headquarters. Those people who are managing it…I just don’t want to mention names, they know themselves, they should put an end to it. It is very annoying they should stop it.”

He added: “They should give the adverts to the pro NDC papers, place the adverts on Radio Gold, Montie as well…put the jingles there, otherwise the next time I come on air on this matter I’ll mention the names, it is annoying. I’m just issuing a last order, they must stop it otherwise the party will come at them, it is annoying…enough is enough.”
