Aspiring National Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ntim has picked nomination forms from the party’s head office in Accra to contest the slot.
He went for the documents personally on Monday, 7th May 2018 and assured his supporters of victory in his fourth attempt.
According to him, “everyone believes it is time for Ntim to ascend to the chair and I believe it, I don’t doubt it”.
Mr Ntim wants the NPP to stay in government beyond the 2020 polls and also win in 2024, “so that we break this monotony of eight-year rule by each of the two major political parties in Ghana”.
He was of the view that had former President John Agyekum Kufuor stayed in office beyond 2009, Ghana would have achieved tremendous gains.
Mr Ntim’s close contender, Alhaji Abubakari Abdul-Rahman, alias Alhaji Short, who is the immediate-past Upper West Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also picked his nomination forms the previous week.
The NPP will elect new national officers at its national delegates’ conference in Koforidua between June 15 and 17, 2018.
The seven-day window for picking nomination forms opened on Thursday, May 3 2018.
