The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha has said it was unwise for some men of God to storm illegal mining (galamsey) sites to pray for the water bodies.

During an interview on Okay FM, Prophet Kumchacha lambasted the pastors who visited the water bodies to pray against galamsey, describing their actions as unwise.

“When I heard about senior men of God visiting rivers and illegal mining sites to pray against galamsey, I was also home praying that these pastors would be attacked by termites, scorpions, and other dangerous insects so they would learn their lessons.”

“There is nothing wise about their actions. If we want to stop galamsey, it's not about prayers. What they did was nonsense,” he said.

It would be recalled that in 2022, the Chairman for the Church of Pentecost, Ghana, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, together with his elders stormed illegal mining sites to pray against the illegal activities going on.

Some of the men of God seen at the mining sites included the chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, Bishop Dr. Paul Boafo, Presiding Chairman of the Assemblies of God, Rev Dr. Paul Frimpong Manso, and Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Ghana Apostle Eric Nyamekye.

In the video that went viral, the Apostle and his elders were seen singing patriotic songs and praying at one of the mining sites to ask for God’s forgiveness on behalf of perpetrators destroying the country’s land and river bodies through mining.

He also called for political will and multifaceted solutions to end mining activities that are devastating arable lands, farms, and river bodies.
